Want the ube cold foam everyone is ordering at the coffee shop? This Starbucks-style ube cold foam recipe takes 5 minutes and a handheld frother. The foam is thick, lightly sweet and naturally purple, and it slowly cascades into your cold brew.
What is ube cold foam?
Cold foam is cold milk and cream frothed until thick and velvety, then spooned over an iced drink. Ube cold foam adds ube — we use Kapsoo ube powder, so the color and flavor come from real purple yam, not syrup or dye.
How to make ube cold foam without a frother
No frother? Put all the foam ingredients in a small jar, close it tightly and shake hard for about 45 seconds. A French press also works: pump the plunger 20–30 times.
More coffee-shop ube drinks: ube latte, ube frappuccino and homemade ube syrup.
Instructions
Step 1
Whisk the ube powder with the hot water into a smooth paste. Let it cool for a minute.
Step 2
Add the heavy cream, milk and vanilla syrup to the ube paste. Froth with a handheld milk frother for 20–30 seconds, until thick but still pourable.
Step 3
Fill a glass with ice and pour in the cold brew.
Step 4
Pour the ube cold foam over the top and serve right away.
